VACATION DIARIES-2
Updated: Jul 11, 2023
GOA. Beaches. Comforting breezes. Parties. Relaxation. Islands. These are some of the words we usually associate with Goa. For those who don’t know, Goa is a beautiful state of India with coastlines stretching along Arabian Sea. A lot of people go to Goa every year making it a popular tourist destination.
A lot of people go there for parties, clubbing, drinking, etc. Me, being a 15-year old, am still underage for clubbing, drinking, etc. So, people usually wonder what fun an underage can have in Goa. But, believe me, we(underages) can have a lot of fun too. So, today I am going to talk about Goa from the eyes of an underage.(particularly my experience).
Firstly, there are wonderful beaches in Goa. There’s Varca Beach(my personal favourite), Baga Beach, Condolim Beach, etc. etc. etc. There are a lot of virgin beaches in South Goa as well which are absolutely enchanting. You could spend days in Goa, just enjoying it’s beaches. My favourite thing to do at a beach is to just walk on the sand along the water and let water flow over my feet and also watching the unending sea and it’s tiny creatures crawling back into the sand as water retreats back into the sea. It is all so beautiful and mesmerizing. You can also do a lot of water sports activities(if you are adventurous, that is).
Then, we have museums, churches, islands and other tourist spots to explore. I know a lot of people wouldn’t enjoy museums, but there are a lot of different kinds of museums there revealing Goa’s culture and history(but you’ll do this only if you are a history lover). Then, there are a lot of beautiful churches in Goa with their amazing Portugal architechtures and unique names. One of the famous Churches of Goa is the Basilica of Bom Jesus Church. Other than this, there are Se Cathedral, St.Francis of Assisi Church, Church of Our Lady of the Mount, etc.
Other than this, we can also visit different islands present in Goa like Divar and Vanxim islands. Their untouched vegetation is so relaxing, especially if you are from a noisy and busy city like Mumbai and crave on such peacefulness. You can also visit the Dr.Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary on Chorao Island of Goa for a complete experience of nature. Also, if you’re in Goa, you cannot miss out on venturing atleast one of the many spice gardens present there. Spice gardens are very exotic and give you a lot of knowledge of different spices, their growth and their tastes by allowing you to explore their natural growth habitat yourself. You can also buy various spices and oils there which are not available in our normal, daily grocery stores and are useful to us in various different ways.
Thirdly, we can do lots and lots of SHOPPING. Now, I know that that is a very girly thing to say, but even guys can do shopping in Goa. Street shopping in Goa is such a different experience in itself. You can get all kinds of things on the streets of Goa, like shirts, shorts, pretty dresses, bikinis, swimwear, scarfs, hats, shoes, accessories, jewellery and what not. You can never get enough of shopping in Goa. Also, Goa is known for it’s cashew nuts. So, you should buy them for sure, if you go there.
Other than beaches, churches, islands and shopping, there are so many other things an underage can do in Goa like swim , get tanned(though it is not a big conceopt in India), relax, go on cruises, boats and ferries, etc. Especially, for non-vegetarians, you can savour sea food in Goa to the fullest. For vegetarians(like myself), it is really hard to get good food, but if you search properly, you can get a few good vegetarian or veg-serving restaurants to SURVIVE there(I know I know, too dramatic, huh?) like Navtara Pure Veg Restaurant, Satkar Restaurant, Tuscany Gardens(my personal favourite), etc.
In all, Goa is a total package of enjoyment. If you are lucky, you can also go to the Midnight Flea Markets held there only during certain months. Hence, you can do a lot of things and experience a lot in Goa and if you are planning a relaxing but exciting vacation, this is the place to go. If you are looking for a more relaxing and soothing vacation, South Goa would be a better place to visit and stay at. But, wherever you are, have fun, stay safe and enjoy to your fullest.
